I am running into an issue with using DNS aliases on a 2012 File server from older Server 2003 systems. We are able to access the share from the 2003 servers using the alias successfully, however when running scheduled tasks (saved credentials, user not logged in) that run applications or scripts that try to access that alias location they fail when using the alias. We are however able to run the scheduled tasks while logged into the box without any issues, this only occurs when the user is not logged into the box.
If we modify the scheduled task to use the direct computer name of the 2012 server it works fine. This only occurs when using the alias from a scheduled task with a user NOT logged into the box.
All registry keys for aliases have been set, SPNs have been registered, NETDOM names have been configured.
Any ideas on what else I can check? I'm running out of ideas.
