DFS-N referral cache shows junk files

Hi guys, I would really love some help troubleshooting the following:

We have a namespace e.g. \\Domain.lan\org that has multiple referrals. It is mapped via GPO to an F: drive, so users click on F: and see multiple folders via DFSN.

Every once in a while, the referral information gets corrupted and we start seeing files and/or folders from a random server (so far it looks like the file/folder exists on one of the namespace servers) show up inside the mapped folder.

I have tried running dfdiag the CLI tool, and it comes back with no issues.

We usually resolve this issue by restarting DFSN/R services on all hosting servers. Recently I also had to run a DFSUTIL command to clear my referral cache before I stopped seeing junk show up on my F: drive.

My questions are: 1. Is there a way for me to identify what might be causing this corruption issue? And/or what server(although my file/folder owner info I could suspect one)

2. Is there any way you might recommend I proactively monitor the services. e.g. scripting up a solution to check query the namespace for refrrals from each respective server and compare results, when discrepancy is found, alert and/or restart all services. I have Orchestrator in the env. and good with Powershell and programming.

Would love some input from the experts! Thank you!
