Track Open files and Sessions for a specific CAP on a File Server Failover Cluster

Hi all,

I have set a File Server on a W2K8R2 Failover Cluster at a customer. They don't use DFS and because of the legacy structure and previous FS migration history I had to ensure the transparency of this new migration using CAP (Client Access Points) as kind of Aliases in order to ensure that users using "old" names can still access the resources (cname records are not supported in FS configs on W2K8R2 Failover Cluster). Migration was successfull and everybody can access files as they did it before, Cool!

My question/problem is that now Managers here would like to eliminate the old servernames/aliases. I created each shares as many times as CAPs were created and gave an explicit description in order to differentiate which share belongs to which CAP. Proceeding this way allow me to easily see the number of client connections open through a specific CAP for a same share name.

For example, I see that only some users access to resources through CAPs with one of these "old" names. How can I identify this user??

I though that by going to "Manage shares and storage", Selecting the CAP and them choosing "Manage Sessions" would allow me to get the users info. But in fact, doing this, gives me the info for ALL users connected to ALL resources of a File Server regardless the CAP used to access it.

Does anyone have a solution to catch the users using a specific CAP?

Thanks a lot,

Max
