Recovering a storage space.

Help please,

I am running Windows Server 2012 Essentials as a Hyper-v guest under Windows 8. I created a Storage Space within the guest on two 1tb disks attached to the VM. After re-booting the host Windows 8 I find that there is no way to make these disks available to the WSE guest without loosing the data. Disk Management in Win 8 says they are Healthy (Storage Spaces Protective Partition). In Storage Spaces, though, it says "The following drives contain an unrecognised configuration and can't be used with storage spaces. "

Can anyone help me find a way to recover the data from these disks because I cannot afford to lose it. I had started setting up a new server to backup my other server and had transferred some of the data to these disks but would you believe I have lost access to these disks and, the server other server has failed on me before I had sorted it out.
