Hello Everyone, I have a question about SSD and how it works in Windows Server 2012. I have got a home server with all roles acting as domain controller, wds, dns, shcp and file server aslo I made CCTV system to work so everything runs of a single server. I have been using IDE (PATA) drive as a system drive for Windows and as system started to grow I have noticed that its stsrted to slow down as well as server were heating up a lot more because of the drive which was heating up to 70C so I decided to move system to SSD. I have done full system backup with bare metal recovery and restored to an SSD. Now in Windows Optimise and Defragment Drives I can see that Windows Server 2012 does not understand that as a system drive I use SSD an says that disk needs to be optimised as its 22% optimised, as well as I am aware that SSD`s do support TRIM function for balanced performace and now its just isnt working. Disk is not in RAID its plugged in directly in to Motherboard SATA Port. Its there is any way I can make Windows to see that drive as SSD rather than HDD, because if the TRIM is off and after some time that SSD will start to slow down.
Many Thanks
Stepans.
