Hey,
We've recently upgraded all our domain controllers from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 (same hardware though and it was a clean install (with proper decommissioning), not an in place upgrade), and every now and again some users will get disconnected network drives when logging on. On checking the DFS root (\\domainname\dfsroot), only 1 share seems to be visible when this happens which explains the disconnected network drives.
Interestingly, in the most recent case (just now), if I check the DFS tab for the 1 visible folder, it listed all 4 of our domain controllers rather than the 2 file servers it normally does. Not sure if it's a coincidence but I changed the active server to another DC and it kicked back into life. I then set it back to the previous active server and it was fine still.
We have:
2 sites
2 domain controllers in each site (all 2012 R2 and all running DFS-N)
1 file server in each site (both 2008 R2 and both running DFS-R with replication)
30Mbps fiber-based leased line between sitesWindows 7 Pro clients everywhere
Any ideas?
Thanks
