Hi,
I have a random issue with file browsing performance from Citrix servers (2008 R2) to DFS-R file shares. Sometimes it's lags a bit and is slower than usual to respond. We managed to chase this down to when it's sluggish the 'SearchIndexer.exe' service is consuming abnormal amounts of CPU.
Because of this, I have been focussing on Windows Search on the Citrix servers and trying to make sure it's setup properly. There seems to be a division out there as to weather to even have it enabled on Citrix/TS servers at all, seeing as it's already enabled I'm not keen on disabling it without knowing the full user impact.
I've been trying to find what is actually being indexed, we use Outlook in online mode, so it shouldn't be indexing mail but am having trouble understanding what is (and should) be indexed. Below are the results of 'Indexing' from the Control Panel (each blanked item has a user name):
This seems strange to me...
1. Why is one user profile being indexed? And in fact that user is not logged into this server so their profile is not currently on that server.
2. Should IE history be indexed? If so, why is it only showing for some users?
3. The fact that C:\System is not ticked, does this imply that nothing else on the system is indexed?
4. Again, why are only a few Outlook accounts being indexed, and again they are users not currently logged in. Does this relate to indexing of PST files which brings me to an interesting error in the event log:
The content source <mapi://{S-1-5-21-658763581-1626722119-1451837230-6170}/> cannot be accessed.
Context: Application, SystemIndex Catalog
Details:
The filtering process has been terminated (HRESULT : 0x80040db4) (0x80040db4)
Does this mean that mapi is being indexed? This seems to happen for a short time in the morning (7:30am - 8:30am), likely when users are logging on?
Any help greatly appreciated.
