Windows 2008 -
I took over as admin at a company and they have a shared company folder on the C: drive that was not going through DFS and the permissions for share and security was full for everyone.
So, I have been correcting that with a company wide security group on the top level share folder for full. Then security groups for the departments on the child folders with the correct permissions.
Once I created the groups and applied them I still let people go through the mapped drive with the IP of the server and saving Office documents works fine.
Then I deployed DFS to the company folder and now the issue is (with only two people, that I know of) when saving any Office 2013 doc (Office 365 desktop application) that file will lose the owner attribute and the file will disappear from the end users map drive.
I goto the server and the file is there in the child folder, but, like I say the owner attribute is now gone. I apply the owner as admin, the apply security permissions to the admin as full, then all the other permissions propagate in from the inheritance.
What could be causing this? Again, this all works fine while browsing the mapped drive through the ip \\10.0.1.2\mappeddrive
