I have a basic storage and fault tolerance question. I am new to the issues so I beg your patience. My understanding is that there is Volume level fault tolerance handled by the Disk Management Snap-in, and Disk level fault tolerance such as provided by Storage Spaces. Also I am familiar with Hardware solutions provided by RAID controllers and levels of fault tolerance such as Mirroring and Parity which I know is available in with the other methods. My questions are as follows: Which is the preferred method? Is one better than the other? If I have a RAID controller set up and managing the disks do I still need to have fault tolerance set up in the Disk Management Snap-in or through Storage Spaces?
