Granting share permissions remove inheritance on shared folder

Hello All,

I am trying to add/remove users from a shared folder in windows 2008 R2 using the following steps:

1. Browse to D:\Program Files\XYZ
2. Right click on Test folder.
3. Go to Properties àSharingàShare
4. Add the username and change permissions from “Read Only” to “Read and Write”/Remove
5. Apply the changes and click ok

When i add or revoke permission using this method, i noticed the permission inheritance on shared folder gets unchecked automatically however it does not when i do it from shares and storage management.

Please advice on the cause of this behavior
