Our new DFS server has been working fine for a week or two now (we think), however today we started seeing users connecting to the out of site DFS server (that has been there for a while). The new in site server is 2008 R2, the out of site server is 2003 R2.
Wierdly it isnt happening for all clients and its not happening for all shares. This morning it was just happening for one citrix server with around 15 users on it, when that was rebooted it worked normally and dfs referrals pointed to the in site server. Then later on another citrix server started referring users to the out of site server but only for one namespace target...
Viewing the DFSutil referral target when the issue is happening shows:
Entry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder1
ShortEntry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder1
Expires in 1184 seconds
UseCount: 20 Type:0x1 ( DFS )
0:[\InSiteServer\Folder1] AccessStatus: 0 ( ACTIVE TARGETSET )
1:[\OutofSiteServer1.Domain.local\Folder1] ( TARGETSET )
Entry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder2
ShortEntry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder2
Expires in 997 seconds
UseCount: 26 Type:0x1 ( DFS )
0:[\InSiteServer\Folder2] AccessStatus: 0 ( ACTIVE TARGETSET )
1:[\OutofSiteServer2\Folder2] ( TARGETSET )
Entry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder3
ShortEntry: \OtherSiteDC1\Data\Folder3
Expires in 1060 seconds
UseCount: 18 Type:0x1 ( DFS )
0:[\InSiteServer\Folder3] AccessStatus: 0xc000020c ( TARGETSET )
1:[\OutofSiteServer3\folder3] AccessStatus: 0 ( ACTIVE TARGETSET )
As you can see there is the error for Folder3 that is causing the issue, ive no idea what "AccessStatus: 0xc000020c" means
If i clear the referral cache then the issue disappeared, but it seems to happen afterwards on different citrix servers, i need to know why it happens.
Thanks.
