Failed redundancy on creating a simple mirror ?

Hi,

I have a brand new server with two hard disks. I have installed windows 2008 and tried creating a mirrored volume. I can create the mirrored volume (disk 0 and disk 1 mirror), but as soon as they are created I have a (!) mark on one of the disks. If I wait for the resynching to complete, I get a failed redundancy message. I can select the disk with the (!) mark, select "reactivate disk" but then the mark moves on to the other disk (disk 0).

I have tried removing the mirror, formatting the disk 1 to completely unallocated space, and recreating a new mirror from disk 0. I always get the same error.

What should I do to get correctly mirrored volume ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Also, please don't link me to the microsoft help manual-type pages.

It does not help at all because all it does is tell me to reactivate the disk or recreate a new mirror, which does not address my issue of perpetually having failed redundancy in any case.

Short version : when creating a mirrored volume I can't get both disks online at the same time
