How to set CHAP secret in iSCSI Target

I am setting up a new iSCSI target and a new iSCSI initiator using two Windows 2012 servers.  I'm confused on the differences between the CHAP configuration between the target and initiator.  On the target, the CHAP configuration includes a username and password.  On the initiator, the only option is to specify a CHAP 'secret'.  If I use the password I assigned on the target I cannot connect.  How do I specify the CHAP secret on the target so it matches the initiator?
