Have Windows 2012 R2 server with storage spaces. Trying to replace two disks in storage spaces pool, but only one disk at a time.
There is two physical disks in storage spaces pool (PhysicalDisk1 and PhysicalDisk2). I create virtual disk in this pool with mirror layout. Have tried to use all available space and have tried to use only 50 GB of space. And had write some data to this virtual disk. Next i do the folloving:
1. I remove from server PhysicalDisk1. Storage Spaces pool becomes degraded. Shows PhysicalDisk1 missing.
2. I insert PhyscalDisk3 (new physical disk for replacement) to server. Add this PhysicalDisk3 to storage pool as HOTSPARE.
3. I wait for regeneration job to start OR i manualy start virtual disk repair job.
4. Job finishes.
5. I mark removed PhysicalDisk1 as retired, remove it from pool. Storage spaces shows that pool and virtual disk is consistent.
6. I remove PhysicalDisk2 form server and then storage pool becomes offline.
WHY ? It has data copy on PhysicalDisk3, before removal of PhysicalDisk2 it shows pool in good condition, but it crashes...
WHY???
