This is probably a simple question but I can't seem to find a straightforward answer to it. I've got
a folder within a share on a file server that I need to limit access to. Currently there are several departments and individuals that have inherited access to the folder. I need to allow a subset of a department to only have access to it. The subset is also
a part of a department that has inherited permissions to the folder. I have created a new security group that contains the members of the subset of the department that are only supposed to have access to the folder. My question is how do I go about setting
permissions so that this group is only granted rights to access the folder? I can't simply deny access to the department they're from because deny trumps any access rights. Do I simply remove inheritance or is there a more proper way to go about this? Thanks
for your help in advance.
