Error when creating DFS root

Hi Everyone,

May I ask for your help in my DFS setup in Windows Server 2003

Scenario: I am trying to setup a DFS on a Windows Server Enterprise 2003 R2 -64bit. I went to "Start"->"Administrative Tools"->"Distributed File System". I created a "New Root" and followed the Wizard. After clicking the "Finish" button I received this error message: "The following error occurred while creating DFS root on server xxxx.example.com: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

Troubleshooting:

1. Made sure the machine is part of the example.com domain

2. check the ports of DFS (TCP:137, 139, 389, 135, 445 and UDP: 137, 138, 389, and 445) and they are open. I used Portqry.exe tool to check the ports

3. Perform nslookup test to check if able to resolve example.com and it returned the right DNS IP addresses.

4. Check the eventvwr.msc under DFS Replication and it mention: "The DFS Replication service successfully contacted domain controller \\xxx.example.com to access configuration information.

Can you help me identify what caused the problem.
