I am running into trouble remotely configuring Shadow Copies on a Windows Server 2012 core file server using the Computer Management MMC snapin.
I am getting the following error message when trying to configure Shadow Copies - this is a freshly built server so it is not a problem with VSS.
Initialization failed.
Error 0x800706ba: The RPC server is unavailable.
This is not a problem with RPC remote management being firewalled - I have confirmed this firewall exception has been put in place as per my following blog article:

Is there a command line alternative to enable Previous Versions through a cmd program or PowerShell? I prefer not installing the GUI even though you can remove and readd it in Server 2012... you should be able to do everything remote without a GUI right Microsoft, hence the point of "management servers"?
Looking forward to hearing back from someone.
Kind Regards,
