Adding file server resource manager on a running file server

Hi, ive recently taken over the responsibility for our fileservers.

The server is running server 2008r2 and is set up with discquota limiting users to 1GB. All fine so far.

However, this server is used as a place for our users to share common files among each other. Making discquota very confusing and annoying for the users, having to share ownership of the files to get all 3gb of pictures or whatever saved in the same folder.

And so to my question. Ive read about File Server Resource Manager, and it seems pretty straight forward to just install it and set quotas on folders instead of users.

But how will this effect the current discquota? Will they still be in effect, or will those settings be nulled when i install file server manager?

Witch quota takes priority? Lets say that user A has 1GB of space according to discquota. But i create a folder and set the quota on it to 5GB in file server manager. How much will user A be able to save there?  1 or 5GB?
