Hi guys,
I'm looking into using Storage Spaces and SOFS as a storage solution for a new Hyper-V cluster. I think I've got the basics down on designing the storage space and virtual drive, but I seem to be missing a key point in tiering. There's a lot of blogs out there showing how to set up tiering with a pre defined hardware list that just happens to fit that demo. However, I can't seem to find any requirements or scaling tables for the SSDs.
I'm looking into a 3 JBOD setup with 54 near line SAS disks, 1 TB each. The virtual drive would be set up as a two way mirror and a collumn width of 4. That would utilize 48 disks as 6 x 8 disk "arrays". How do I best configure SSD tiering to suite this? Is there a minimum amount of SSDs needed, a minimum recommended size, do I have to take the column width into account, etc?
