I'm having an odd issue where adding a DFS Namespace server (2 domain controllers) to host the namespace causes the DFS root directory to show up "blank"
I recently created a new DFS root, let's call it "\\company.com\builds" hosted on my file server which I'll call FileServer1. The new DFS root is fine and dandy, works great and is pointed to T:\Builds. So, whenever a user accesses \\company.com\builds or \\company\builds they are writing directly to T:\Builds (hence DFS). I have no folder targets set up as I don't want this data replicating.
The strange thing that is occurring is when I add a DFS Namespace server for this DFS root users will report that they no longer see any data in my DFS root (\\company.com\builds), and instead they see a "blank" empty directory. I haven't tried"writing" to this directory as I haven't experienced the issue, personally. Anyway, I removed the other namespace servers and the "blank" directory was no longer.
I haven't forced any replication yet but my initial thought was that the DCs haven't fully replicated thus causing the issue...
Any help would be appreciated.
