Sharing Files over Web like dropbox

I'm looking for ideas on how to create my companies own dropbox/skydrive like capability with our Windows 2012 servers.

The CEO of our company gets frustrated (rightly so) with having to store company private info to SkyDrive/Dropbox, along with frustrations on figuring out how to keep it secure/synchronized with internal file shares he uses.

So today, I'm looking to see if anyone has thoughts on how to use Windows Server 2012 (not R2) to create our own "private cloud" type file sharing service.

I know I could by a NAS device based upon Linux and do this easily. There are many solutions now that offer your own "private cloud storage". And no, I'm not interested in Skydrive/Dropbox. I'm looking to see what Windows 2012 might have that is built in to publish a file share via the web.

Any ideas would be great. I figure, worst case, I'll just buy a NAS device like a Synology or WD.

But there's got to be something Windows 2012 can do. I just feel ignorant in not knowing what role/service/add-in might be available to do something that is so common today that SOHO products do all day long.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Bob
