Hi, there seemed to be a problem today with the workstation accessing the SQL server and database on the server. The application itself worked fine on the server, but when we tried to access it from the workstation there was an SQL database access denied
message. We spoke to the support team of the application, and they turned off the firewall and the workstation accessed the server and the application fine. They then set up a protocol access to the SQL application, turned the firewall back on and the workstation
was once more able to access the application. The support team gave the reason as perhaps a windows update. However, we looked at the windows updates, and there was not an update to coincide with the time the problem started happening. Therefore my question
is, "what sort of thing could have made the firewall to stop the workstation from accessing the server?" Many thanks in advance for your input and thoughts. Ros
