I had a corruption of DFS replication database on one of the drives on our windows 2012 R2 file server.
So I started the rebuild of the database by following the following procedure:-
1. Delete replication groups located on this drive
2. Deleting existing DFRS database located in "Driveletter:\System Volume Information\DFSR" on both servers
3. Delete the DfsrPrivate folders for replication groups on both servers
4. Create DFS-R group on Primary server.
After the step 4 I expecting to see event 4112 for the successful initialization of the replicated folder.
I got this event for one of the smaller replicated folder on this drive but for another one that has more then 10 TB of data this event was not logged for 10 days.
I then followed the above process again to try and recreate the database again. It has been more then 8 days since I created this replication group for the second time and still event 4112 is not logged. The DFSR database size grew > 7GB and then stopped growing. That seems to indicate that it has gone through almost all the files.
If I go through the DFS Replication event log I see few of the following events logged :-
"The DFS Replication service encountered a file encrypted using the Encrypting File System (EFS) in a replicated folder. This file will not be replicated because the replication of files encrypted by EFS is not supported by the DFS Replication service."
Could this be why event 4112 is not being logged because it can't process these last few files?
What could be wrong with this replication group/folder and why is the event 4112 not logged.
What troubleshooting can I perform to resolve this issue?
